- Prologue -

"A threat to our world, Titan was defeated. Shadow and May retired to Sensei's dojo together to tend the wounds the crazy conqueror had inflicted. Despite the presence of Sly, hiding there from cheated clients, the dojo was filled with peace and harmony. But the nightmares that haunted Shadow every night informed him he couldn't escape his past so easily."

After defeating the formidable demon Titan, Shadow finds himself trapped in a dream where he must battle enemies. Each victory leads him to increasingly bizarre locations through shadow rifts. Ultimately, he confronts his own past self in a challenging fight. Upon awakening, Sly and May inform him that Sensei vanished into a sky rift while pursuing Needle, an assassin allied with the Order. Determined to rescue Sensei and uncover the mystery behind these rifts, Shadow sets out on a new journey.

Act I: Dissected Skies[]

Chapter 1 - Awakening:

"Sensei has disappeared in a sinister Rift that opened near the dojo. Only Shadow can find and rescue him."

Shadow sets off through the shadow rift in the sky to begin his search for Sensei. On the way he has to defeat a horde of Ninjas and a Ninja Bastion, a Ninja Commander. After defeating each opponent, he gets teleported to a new location to face the next opponent. He accidentally discovers a healing temple after being teleported by another shadow rift (this heals 10 to 25% of the characters HP at random).

He eventually catches up with Sensei, only to discover that he has been infected by shadow energy. Shadow tries to convince him to return home, but Sensei refuses, forcing Shadow to fight him. After defeating Sensei, he and Shadow return back to the dojo, where they explain everything to May and Sly. Shadow then explains that Needle is still out there and plans to return to look for her and find out what the Order is up to.

Chapter 2 - On Point:

"Sensei was saved, but Needle managed to flee. She surely knows what's happening, so Shadow'd find her."

Shadow enters the Rift for the second time to chase after Needle. On the way, he proceeds to take out the ninja he encounters. When he catches up to Needle, he confronts her. Shadow senses that she gained some sort of new abilities, in which Needle admits and threaten him. During the fight, Shadow realizes that Needle had new poison abilities and her Sai's are tipped with those abilities.

After defeating her, he asks her what the Order is up to. She responds with empty threats which gives Shadow all the information he needs. When Shadow returns to the dojo, he explains to Sensei that the Order wants revenge on him. Sensei, who is studying the Rifts, explains that they are very dangerous and can harm people if they're not careful. Shadow states that he needs to go back into the rift in order to defeat the Order.

Chapter 3 - Ghost Menace:

"The Order of Assassins seeks revenge. As long as it exists, we are in danger. The Order must be destroyed."

We all have our own paths—some rely on intellect, while others, like Shadow, rely on strength. However, members of the Order, especially Lynx, believe in trickery and deceit. Shadow entered the rifts for the third time, swiftly defeating the ninjas he encountered.

When Shadow met Ghost, he learned that Lynx had anticipated his arrival. Confidently, Shadow demanded Lynx's location to avoid further conflict, but Ghost boasted about their newfound power. Despite the taunts, Shadow hinted at an impending showdown. They clashed, and Shadow emerged victorious, joking about the challenge Lynx would pose.

Ghost, conceding defeat, warned of Lynx's revenge, fueled by their newfound strength. Shadow dismissed the threat lightly. It became clear that Lynx was planning revenge. May wondered why he couldn't accept defeat, having already lost to Shadow twice. Sensei attributed it to Lynx's pride as a fighter, prompting Shadow to enter the rifts again, aiming to defeat Lynx for the fourth time.

Chapter 4 - Preventive Revenge:

"Lynx ran out of henchmen he could hide behind. It's time to face an old enemy."

Shadow swiftly defeated Lynx's ninjas, leaving Lynx vulnerable without his usual henchmen. Although Lynx admitted he had anticipated Shadow's arrival, he denied responsibility for the shadow rifts appearing near Shadow's home, claiming they presented an opportunity for revenge. Shadow questioned Lynx's motives, suggesting they stemmed more from vanity than genuine intent. Despite Lynx's defiance, they clashed once more, with Shadow emerging victorious.

During their confrontation, Lynx hinted that Corsair, a henchman of Titan, was the mastermind behind the scheme. This revelation made Shadow realize the gravity of the situation. Meanwhile, May suggested that the Order, seeking vengeance against Shadow, had struck a deal involving Titan's henchmen. Shadow became increasingly concerned about the danger posed by the shadow rifts if manipulated by Titan's powerful generals. Determined, he vowed to stop Corsair's plans while Cleric and the Order pursued their own mysterious goals.

Chapter 5 - Way Out:

"Who would've guessed: Lynx was working with Corsair, an old foe from another world. We must find out quick what he's plotting."

After an extensive search, Shadow finally tracked down Cleric. To Shadow's surprise, Cleric greeted him with genuine hospitality before swiftly alerting him to the peril of his actions. Without hesitation, they clashed in a clash of arms. Cleric proved to be far stronger than his outward appearance, wielding a deadly personality unmatched by any opponent Shadow had faced before. His mastery of elixirs further enhanced his combat prowess, with potions that could deliver devastating critical strikes and knock Shadow down, bolster his defenses, and swiftly heal his wounds. Despite Cleric's formidable skills, Shadow persevered and emerged victorious.

Seeking answers about Corsair's motives and plans, Shadow pressed Cleric for information, emphasizing the urgency of stopping their mutual adversary. However, Cleric remained tight-lipped, offering no insight into Corsair's schemes. Resolute, Shadow returned to his dojo and set out towards the rift, consumed by determination to confront Corsair once more and thwart his plans decisively. His resolve burned with renewed intensity, poised to face the looming threat head-on.

Chapter 6 - Alien Channel:

"It's time to visit Corsair and, if we're lucky, close the Rift."

Shadow finally ventured into the Shadow Rift, resolute in his determination to close it for good. Along the way, he dispatched the ninjas attempting to kill him, only to encounter a surprising twist. Lynx reappeared, intent on halting Shadow's entry into the Cyber world, forcing a confrontation that left both with fresh wounds. Shadow warned Lynx to stand down, but it was only when blood began to spill anew that Lynx relented. Pressing onward, Shadow entered the Rift, discovering it to be a portal linking the human world with the Cyber realm where Corsair awaited. The familiarity of the location struck Shadow, reinforcing his belief that he was on the right path towards Titan's citadel.

After an exhaustive search within the Citadel, Shadow finally confronted Corsair, demanding he close the rifts proliferating across the world. Corsair insisted he lacked full control over the rifts and harbored no vendetta against Shadow; rather, he had aligned with the Order due to a war in the Cyber world, where factions were getting resources. Ninjas under Corsair's command eliminated those who sought the resources before him. Gradually this conversation led into a fierce battle. Despite a harrowing clash, Corsair eventually fell, on to his knees.

Shadow pressed Corsair once more to seal the rifts, but Corsair retaliated, warning that his actions had set irreversible consequences in motion, ensuring no peace for Shadow henceforth. In response, Shadow scoffed that he had known peace before, concluding the legendary fight.

Returning to his Sensei, May, and Sly, Shadow recounted the encounter. While his companions lamented the news, Sly brightened the mood by revealing a letter from an old ally seeking their aid against troublemakers in a distant land. The map provided by the "old friend" proved inaccurate, but Sly, after several days, managed to find the correct path. Their relief was short-lived as Hermit, appearing unexpectedly, unleashed a bolt of lightning that struck their cart, causing a violent explosion that left them all injured and in shock.

Act II: Family Values[]

- Prologue -

"The map the "old friend" had sent was not the most accurate...but after a few days, Sly managed to find the right way."

After Hermit's attack, the group spot Butcher, one of the six shadow demons, in the horizon, with a serious expression on his face. But to their surprise, he was checking if they were alright.

Chapter 1 - Prodigals:

"A grim cult tricked some teens from Butcher's gang into the Rift. Butcher wants us to save them in exchange for the information."

Butcher explained that Hermit manipulated his gang to abandon him in exchange for power given by Shadow Energy. He also reveals that one of Titan's henchmen, Guru, is behind this scheme. He then gave Shadow new clothes and equipment in preparation towards this dangerous journey.

After encountering and defeating the tiresome ninjas during his journey, he eventually encounters one of Butcher's gang members, Reaper. He attempts to speak out of reason to come back to Butcher, but Reaper's hunger for power deluded him to think that Hermit is his family. Shadow states that a cult is not family and that he'll have to beat the foolishness out of him, in which a difficult battle begins.

When Reaper is defeated, he looked confused as to what just happened. Shadow explains that it was the Shadow Energy and some of Guru's tricks corrupting him. He shows him a safe path out and asks for Rhino and Bird, two other gang members of Butcher, and their whereabouts. Reaper said that they ran away to be together, and that Shadow must put their minds straight. Shadow states that he will cause that's his job, pauses mid-sentence. Reaper sees Shadow begin to feel agony, and asks what's wrong with him.

"Reaper had barely scratched Shadow, but the pain piercing him proved unbearable."

Shadow gets teleported back through the rift after nearly being consumed by Shadow Energy. His inner voice tells him that he has been infected with Shadow Sickness and will succumb to it if he doesn't try to stop it. The only cure to save him is the Eternal's Sphere, in which Shadow continues with his journey in hopes of finding that sphere.
