Stories is a unique mode of gameplay in Shadow Fight 4: Arena, consisting of purely Player vs AI mechanics. This mode is unlocked after the player reaches 50 trophies in Arena 1. Players can choose a character from their collection to play and explore the world of Shadow Fight 4 from their perspective. All the story chapters are set after the events of Shadow Fight 3, albeit in a different world where the Shadow Mind is the ruler. April, a female character who takes the role of assisting the player at the tutorial of the game, is the narrator of all the stories. Unlike other games in the Shadow Fight franchise, whose main focuses are on story mode, playing story mode in this game is completely optional as its main focus is on multiplayer mode.
In this mode, the character's level does not matter. The player is able to choose any character regardless of their level with only their active Talents and equipped Rare or Epic weapons.
Books and their Chapters[]

Stories are divided into different books, each containing a different number of chapters. All that are currently available are listed below under the headings of their respective books.
Note: The chapter numeration below has been used considering the facts that all the books have their own stories and none of them are sequels or prequels to each other and this was the chapter numeration before the addition of story quests to the game. However, after the addition of story quests, all the chapters in the Stories mode have been given end-to-end numeration in order to ease the understanding of players as to which story chapter a particular story quest is referring to.

Story Mode Mechanics[]
Each chapter has a total of 12 rounds, with the sixth and the final round consisting of a mini-boss and a boss respectively.
The sixth round consists of a mini-boss, who is either a knight, a mage or a bandit with special abilities. They have unique abilities. For example, the mage mini-bosses have the Shadow Regeneration buff which slowly generates Shadow energy and when entering Shadow Form, they gain a shield that protects them from one attack, be it physical attack or Shadow attacks.
The last round consists of the boss itself, whose fighting mechanics are different and possess abilities different and unique, but similar to their playable counterparts. For example, Ironclad can use a unique move, when he gains 10 stacks of Stubbornness Charges, Sarge has two Shadow Abilities when entering Shadow Form, Helga can regenerate her entire health thrice upon being defeated while smiting her enemies, Jack can use the Shadow Fortress at the start, and the King of the Legion can constantly use his Shadow Abilities and can launch an everlasting Soul Unison on the player. The chapter is considered to be completed if the player defeats the boss.
Flames of Courage[]

Stories uses an energy system known as Flames of Courage, and each chapter costs 10 flames to play. The flames of courage automatically replenish over time if its value is less than the maximum (1 per 18 minutes). The player can get
10 by watching video ads 5 times per day or can purchase it with gems (
30 for
75).
Jewels[]
Jewels are special modifiers which the players can equip before starting a story chapter. These Jewels can be obtained by purchasing them with gems (50 for 1 and
450 for 10) and can also be obtained as a reward from the Star milestone in Rewards section of Stories. There are three types of Jewels and each has its own benefit.
Bonuses[]
Bonuses are special buffs in Stories. At the end of each round won by the player, they are given an option to select a bonus for their selected character which will last till the end of the chapter. The bonuses are divided into Common, Rare and Epic bonuses. These bonuses include, but are not limited to, damage multipliers, increased health recovery, increased physical or shadow damage, increased hop, jump or roll distance. Moreover, the already-selected bonus can be offered again in later rounds, selecting which enhances the effect of that bonus. Certain bonuses are chapter-based and available only in that chapter alone and certain bonuses are exclusive to one character. For example, Ethereality can be accessed only in the "Long Live the Dead King" chapter. The anti-shadow heroes have their own set of bonuses corresponding to their own abilities.
Rewards[]
For each story chapter cleared by a character for the first time, the player gains a Star, which gives access to great rewards from the Rewards section for each Star milestone acquired. When a chapter is cleared next time, the player only gets some amount of Silver , a unique currency type that can be used in Roulette to obtain Shard Chests, Gold or Master Chests. For every 10th spin, the player is rewarded with a Shimmering Shard Chest.
Chronicles[]
Chronicles is a unique mode within the Story Mode which allows the player to play all chapters of any book in one go, with their character, albeit with increased difficulty. The player will get a bonus after clearing one round or three rounds instead of every round. In Chronicles, all chapters of a book share their respective bonuses with each other. This mode does not have any story dialogues. So far, Chronicles of only two books - Legion in Flames and Outcasts of Dynasty - are available.
