Nrityu is an exclusive playable character of the Destiny in Red 2024 event in Shadow Fight 2. Players will be able to play as her in the opening storyline of the event, as well as in a random fight rule at Dandy and Faradeya event raids.

Story[]

She is the titular character of the Puppeteer's play, The Legend of Nrityu - the tale of a grim reaper whose fate is to take away lives.

In the storyline, Nrityu hunts down Dandy and Faradeya, who have caused the deaths of numerous innocent people, to deliver their punishment - death. Despite feeling pity for Faradeya, Nrityu understands her duty as an escort to the afterlife and believes it is someone else's responsibility to judge a person's sins.

The Puppeteer describes Nrityu as kind-hearted and compassionate, as she hesitates to take lives and occasionally thinks of sparing those she deems not truly evil. However, Nrityu always fulfills her role as a grim reaper while striving to provide a peaceful death. These qualities are what the Puppeteer asks Shadow to emulate - dedication to their chosen path while maintaining both strength and empathy.

Perks and enchantments[]

  • Absolute Attacks

Nrityu has an ability that makes her attacks always ignore defense and cannot be blocked. This means that all of her hits are guaranteed to land successfully. Nrityu's ability is distinct from the Block Breaker perk as it isn't triggered by chance and that it does not come with any visual indicators, unlike the Block Breaker perk which displays an icon when activated. However, this ability does not extend to her magic attacks. Nrityu can still be interrupted while casting magic, resulting in the cancellation of the magic attack.

  • Karma

After performing a combo more than 3 hits (maximum 10 combos), Nrityu will get a strength or health buff. If her health is above 50%, her next attack will deal 150% - 200% additional damage and knock the down her opponent, but she loses some of her health. If her health is lower than 50%, her next attack will restore 5% - 15% of her health. The power of strength or health buffs that she will receive depends on her combo.

  • Frenzy (Weapon)

A chance to increase melee damage by 150% for 5 seconds after making a successful weapon hit.

  • Bleeding (Weapon)

A chance that the enemy will start to lose 6% health per second over 5 seconds after being hit.

  • Lifesteal (Weapon)

Trivia[]

  • Nrityu has several origins to her name:
    • In Indian culture, the word Nritya which means "to dance, to perform (a play), or to gesticulate" which may imply that for Nrityu, taking lives is just like "dancing on a stage" as it is her role to do so. This may also be a reference to how she is just a character to the Puppeteer's "plays", as how she was introduced.
    • In Dharmic religions, Mṛtyu or Mrityu, a word which means "death" in Sanskrit, are personified as deities or embodiments of death, similar to the concept of grim reapers in Western cultures. This corresponds well with Nrityu's character, who is an entity that brings death to people.
  • In her character model, Nrityu appears to wear a modified Crown of Night helm with long dangling strips attached, made to resemble long hair.
  • Nrityu is the only character who is also a fight rule (Fight as Nrityu).
  • Due to the game's inability to change the grunt voice, Nrityu will still have a male voice.
