Helga the Abdicatress, or simply Helga, is a supporting character who appears in Marcus's Plane. She is an abdicator, a member of the Legion royal family who gave up her right to the throne. She was the daughter of Reinhard, a cruel fanatic. She lived in the Abdicator's tower, until one day she decided to escape, earning the power of the Light. Before the events of Marcus's Plane, she led the Abdicators' Uprising.

Storyline[]

Transformation: Marcus's Plane[]

Helga first appeared in the beginning of Marcus' Plane in general's dream. She tells them that even though they can take away her life, but not her light. The general must capture her to avoid war. Later she disguised herself as Reinhard to escape from the prison to gain the power of Light.

Later in the story, she met general at the crypt when they got infected with the Scourge. She gave them the giant sword which will help the general to enter the Bridge-Between. They encounter with Tarlan, who was the mastermind behind the general's infection with Scourge. They defeated him to disclose about the location of Bridge-Between, which starts in Falcon Gorge. Depending on the player's choice, she either waits for general in the Falcon Gorge or they go with her.

After Helga helps them in entering the Bridge-Between, they see Moira, who was King's daughter. Moira feels grateful as Helga managed general to enter the Bridge-Between to free her. Suddenly, Shadow Mind appears, boasting about it's master and his army and tells general that they will also join them once they are infected with the Scourge. Helga tells them not to listen it as it is wasting the time. She points towards the star which refers to Light and says that Light will not leave them. The general manages to cure themselves by defeating their Scourge. After that, Helga encourages her that she will become the True Queen and will lead the Legion, but Moira doesn't accept the fact as a True Queen and Saviour of the World as she is yet to be born. Ursus, the Immortal wouldn't let her go as Secrets of Light and Secrets of Darkness gives him strength. Suddenly, Helga struck an idea. She asks Shadow Mind that it knows about the three secrets of this world and asks to tell them, but it tells them that it cannot break its Master's will. But since its will is strong in the Bridge-Between, it proceeds to tell them about the three secrets of this world.

After they know about the three secrets of this world, the general woke up from their dreams, much to Ironclad's surprise as he thought they are dead. Moira comes before them, who has become adult introduces herself and Helga tells them to kneel before her. Moira knows Ironclad, but she won't tell him his name as she knows how much he hates his name. Ursus doesn't have any control over her and his reign is about to end, so Helga tells general to defeat Ursus once and for all as Light will help them. Helga hopes during the fight that general doesn't use Shadow Energy to defeat him. She helps general by blessing them when they resist the temptation of not using Shadow Energy, although this could differ depending whether they use Shadow Energy or not. After they defeats him, June gets happy to see Moira as she only saw her in her dreams as a child and they both get excited that they meet in this world. Sarge pledges his hammers, his loyalty towards the royal family as this will mark the beginning of the true Legion. But Moira feels that this is the end of the world as the war is coming between Light and Darkness.

They rushed towards the forest where general receives a nightmare about a forgotten hero who got disappeared long back. Helga confirms that they knew something about this place as they are receiving a nightmare. They defeat the forgotten hero in their nightmare. As they moved on, Helga tells them about the Light which is capable of showing them the truth as Shadows lead them astray. She points to the Heart of the Forest which is just a tree infected with the Scourge. June asks her if she is a little bit interested as the Heart hold many secrets that are yet to be discovered. Sven agrees with her as Outcast can hear those secrets from it. The Heart of the Forest has now an important message for him which says that the time itself has became distorted here since the Master took control over this world which turns into some kind of ball of thread as they couldn't notice it. Many people got trapped between worlds and timelines with those shadow threads. He also got thrown out from it without any memories or past, but he managed to grasp its secret. He then points to a soldier who is from the another world and has madness in his eyes. The General then defeats the soldier from another world.

Depending on the path chosen by the player, they will either go to Temple or to the Heart of the Forest, irrespective of their quests. They went to the Temple when they saw the contamination of the hero. June warns them that this would be the end of them if they lose their lives. Helga still doesn't believes if he is the one who brought shadow energy into their world. Outcast then replies her in positive that hating them is what makes him brought the shadow energy. After seeing them, the hero attacks them but General quickly defends them and they fights with him. He has the power to either having the protective concentration or summoning giant shadow quickly depending on the choice they have chosen earlier. After a long fight, the General manages to defeat him. Then the hero showed up and he is none other than Shadow. He was finding the General for thousands of years and they finally came here according to May. He then warns him about his son that he wants to open the Gates of Shadows and since Moira can stop him from doing so, he is returning the king to the world only to get rid of her so that his plan won't go in vain. He then forgives them for beating them and he requests to give him hope as he wants this world to live. After saying so, he disappeared. After knowing this, they went to inform queen Moira about this incident.

Moira was surprised that her father is coming back as he will ruin the Legion and that's why he is dangerous. After they all protect Moira, they saw in the main streets that many people are getting manipulated by the Master. The General then deals with the Master's servant to clear the path towards the Legion Fortress. They managed to defeat them. They went through the Eternal Rest, only to find out that it is also infected with the Scourge now much to Helga's dismay. It is supporting the thin barrier between their world and the Shadow World and they were afraid of getting this barrier breaking. Suddenly, a Master's soldier comes to attack them, but General deals with her. They defeated her to clear the path once more, only to get shocked to see that it's Mother Death who was executed earlier. The dead ones are coming back and so the disaster is also following them. Helga feels uneasy after seeing this incident and tells them to return to the Throne Room. They return to the Throne room, only to find the King is waiting for them there. Moira was pleased to see her father, but he warns them not to approach since his Master wanted to take them down using him. Sarge angrily asks who this abomination calling himself "Master" really is, only to be revealed by the King that the Master is trying to find his way home by opening the Gates of Shadows in all planes. Before his mind was completely controlled, the King begged the General to protect his daughter Moira and to end his Master's rule over him. The General then fights with him to end the Master's rule over him. In this fight, the General has to win only one round but King has three lives and after losing two lives, he gains the ability of Shadow Onslaught which can close the gaps between the General. Despite that, the General manages to end his Master's rule over him. Before he died, his last wish was to look after her daughter. Moira thanked them for freeing him from Master's power. Ironclad comes and seeing Moira upset, he asked if they had upset her, but Sven tries to calm her down that his father and her mother are both partying at the sun shore as they were good friends. He gives them her word that they will find that Master and will teach him some manners.

In Heart of the Forest path when they were coming from it at night, Sarge admits that this tree is good to watch, but all this tree-worship in his point of view is somewhat weird. Outcast corrects him by telling that no one worships the tree as the Heart of the Forest lives inside it. Sarge gets confused as to what this Heart is. They have few screws loose and they are the ones who have to run around. Suddenly, a man in shadow form attacks them. The General fights him. Depending on the buff they have chose earlier, they would get an advantage in this fight. They finally managed to defeat him after an exhausting fight. The man is none other than the Real Itu, who got trapped for two thousand years in this place. He then informs them about Shadow's Descendant who had got ridiculously strong now and Shadow Mind is acting like his pawn. But he has a weakness, he is alone and they are many. Outcast gets surprised after seeing him but Itu tells them that Shadow's Descendant is about to reach the Heart of the Forest and they have to save it. After that, he gets disappeared, much to June's confusion as she has seen him before, but she couldn't understand these feelings. Outcast then tells them to go back to the Heart of the Forest as something has happened over there.

They went through the forest when Ironclad remembers Sven's order to take General to meet him as they are having a party here. The Immortals have sent their troops and everything over here is a bit of mess. Helga heard some screams which are of her relatives who had been turned into Dark Abdicators and asks them if they will be able to stop them. They were bringing some weird stuff and singing songs about a wheel. Suddenly, Greta comes and informs them about the Wheel of Time which cannot be stopped and will only turn backwards from now on. The General then fights with the Dark Abdicatress and defeats her. After that, Greta tells them that the Master will cleanse them and put them on the path of Shadows as she feels that their minds were lost, but Sarge then asks her if the name of the rightful queen not mean anything to her. Greta then informs them that the world has now only one ruler. Seigfried was the one to understand this thing. They quickly rushed back to the Heart of the Forest when Immortals have sent the Dark Abdicators to attack them. They wanted to take down the Heart of the Forest, much to Sarge's confusion as what they need from it. Helga tells him that the Immortals are just acting like the Master's puppets as he wants to destroy it. Suddenly, Red Lion attacks them but General quickly fights back and defeats him. After seeing Red Lion, Sven gets confused after seeing them afraid of something. They have managed to take down all of the Dark Abdicators, but one of them have managed to summon the Millenium Wolf- the patriarch of all drevars.

Upon seeing shadows corrupting the Holy tree, he threatens them that he will burn all of them and create new Fire Children from their ashes. Sven tries to reason that it hides the Heart of the Forest and requests to spare the tree but kill him instead. Millenium Wolf tells him that he rejected the Fire and that he will burn the Woods down so they can be reborn again. Sarge tells him that this land now belongs to queen Moira and if he tries to set fire to it, he will not spare him. Millenium Wolf assumes him as Kagun, his father and tells him not to stand in his way in which Sarge tries to tell him his actual name. He requests General to help him. The General fights with him. Millenium Wolf doesn't not have a shadow bar but a unique fire bar which gains fire energy everytime he uses Fire abilities. However, with the help of the Heart of the Forest, the General managed to outsmart all his abilities and proved to be victorious at the last. After that, the Heart of the Forest comes out and thanked Patriarch for freeing her with fire. He has shown the truth about the Darkness and the Light: one cannot exist without the other. After seeing her freed, everybody started kneeling before her, even the Great Patriarch couldn't believe his eyes and sees her as a lost but no evil inside her. The Heart reveals that the Light is the source of the Shadows. She requests them to free his son from the shackles of the darkness as his son, the Master of Worlds forgot this secret. Itu is no longer alone as they are all together, so she tells them to protect Moira as she has the power to command the Voice of the Shadows and bids farewell to them.

After time gets distorted by the Master, Helga, Sven, and Ironclad get mysteriously disappeared. What happens to Helga now remains unknown.

Sarge's Adventure: Burning Blood[]

Helga arrives at the prison cell and is devastated to see her father lying on the ground and assumes Sarge killed him. Greta explains the conspiracy Reinhard fell victim to - Sarge betrayed the Legion, attacked Helga's father and helped the captured northerner escape. However, she comforts Helga by telling her that her father is not dead, just unconscious. To hide their alliance with Sarge from Helga, Greta and Gizmo make a false promise to her that they will bring Sarge to justice as soon as possible. Believing in their false oath, Helga wishes them farewell and asks them to be sure to capture the escaped Northerner as he is their young prince and he is too important. In the meantime, Sarge and Sven are planning their escape at the Legion streets. Sven asks Sarge to hurry and does not like the fact that Sarge has lost all his agility during his time in the Legion. Sarge then says that losing his agility is nothing as compared to having a rope around his neck. Sarge then points at a young guy, who is an Abdicator. If the Abdicator suspects anything and raises the alarm, they are done for. He asks Sven to sit quietly while he knocks him out. Sarge fights him and knocks him out. The duo is about to leave until Greta and Gizmo arrive just then and ask them to let them come along with them. Gizmo explains to Sarge the false oath he and his sister made to Helga that they will capture Sarge in order to hide their alliance with Sarge from her. Sven now realizes that Sarge was so slow not because he lost his agility during his time in the Legion, but because he was merely waiting for his friends. Sven feels glad to see them as their brothers will welcome them as their dear guests. Sarge furiously orders everyone to be silent and threatens to kill everyone and proceed further himself if they do not. Sarge and his companions continue their restless journey together and reach the northern village. Gizmo is tired. Gizmo hears some loud sounds and assumes that the Northerners are loud folks and that their celebrations have already started. Sven corrects him by saying that these are the sounds of battle, indicating that the village is under attack. He suspects Ragnar to be the mastermind of this attack. Sarge orders Sven to check on their mother while he will take care of Ragnar himself, as he's his childhood enemy. He orders Gizmo to deal with Ragnar's henchmen himself. His sister assists him. The two siblings fight off Ragnar's henchmen. After defeating the enemy's henchmen, Gizmo remarks that distinguishing between northern bandits and common folk is challenging due to their similar appearance because they look like thugs. His sister suggests that they should be careful not to generalize or make assumptions about people based on their appearances. Gizmo takes back his words as he finds Ragnar most menacing of all thugs. Greta, however, hopes Sarge will be fine. Sarge now meets his childhood enemy once again face to face. They both fight. During the fight, Ragnar uses a new tactic - he blows his horn, emitting pressure waves strong enough to damage Sarge but not strong enough for him to defeat Sarge. Sarge defeats him and proves to be victorious. At the end of the fight, Sarge taunts him by saying that he is still as weak as he was in the past. After Sarge defeats Ragnar, Sven thanks him and his associates for their help in saving their village. Yet, a tinge of sorrow lingers, as they arrive too late—Mother has embarked on an endless journey. Sarge needs rest and allows the others to celebrate without him. Sven refuses as there is no time to rest. Mother has sent Sarge a gift, which he can only receive if he enters the Bridge-Between while Winter Star is still high. Gizmo is surprise by seeing this inheritance and finds Sarge to be rich now. Sven takes them all to the Ancestors' Arena. When they reach there, Greta realizes that the Ancestor's Arena is the Eternal Rest and warns the others that Legion law forbids entering it. Sarge however ditches Legion law and is ready to go in. Sven prompts the remaining group, suggesting that commencing the sacred battle before the watchful gaze of their ancestors would be wise and wishes that the Fire will help him. Sarge goes on alone to the blessed battle and succeeds. Sven congratulates him on his victory and wishes him good luck for the rest of his mission. Sarge reaches the Bridge-Between where he gets to fight the spirits of the ancient northerners. Millenium Wolf approaches him tests his strength against some drevars. Sarge beats them all and proves to be worthy, completing the first challenge. The next challenge starts. This time, Millenium Wolf tests him against his grandfather, Kagun. Sarge beats him as well. Millenium Wolf congratulates Sarge on proving his right to bear the title of drevar and weild the power of Fire. He also orders him to serve the ways of his ancestors with honor. Sarge, however, does not understand anything Millenium Wolf said. Sarge is sent back to the real world. Sarge goes to Sven to clarify everything with him. It is revealed that this was Sarge's gift after all - he rejected his right to bear the title of drevar at his young age but his mother returned it to him. Sarge does not agree with this. He does not want to stay in the Bridge-Between. He does accept the life of a saint or an ascetic. He says that he would rather be a good jailor than a bad drevar. Sven commends Sarge by saying that he is good at everything he does. Sven also tells him that he would do anything to have strength like his and he always wished to be a drevar but for now, he has another responsibility of taking care of his brothers in his mother's place. Sarge responds to him that he will lead his life according to his will, not according to the North. Sven then welcomes his brothers and sisters in the village to the Winter Star Festival and encourages them to hurry lest they miss the best fights. The Winter Star Festival is in full swing. Sven is enjoying his food. Gizmo comes to him and mocks his food, assuming it is a pie with bees. Greta hears a sound and asks Sven what happened. Sven silences both of them. He senses enemies in the bushes as no northerner makes so much noise when moving among the branches. Since Sarge is still weak and is sleeping, Greta and Gizmo volunteer to help Sven in his place. Gizmo and Greta both fight Red Lion and take him down together. After their battle, Sarge wakes up and questions as to what happened and wonders if these people came for him, to which Gizmo responds that he doubts it. Sarge should have witnessed the looks on their faces when they encountered Greta and him. They were definitely surprised. However, the question remains, why did they venture here if not for them. Sven suddenly notices that their mother's records are gone. Sarge questions what the records are. He sees no way the purist thugs can even read. Sven explains that the records are about Northern magic. The Inquisitor came to the forest half a year ago, seeking information about the Wheel of History. Sarge is shocked to hear this. He fears that Reinhard might do something wrong with the records. He needs to report it to the Queen as soon as possible. Sarge, Gizmo and Greta hurriedly get back to the Fortress. Sven follows them as well. Sarge spots him and furiously orders Sven to go back to the forest as northerners as not allowed to enter the Fortress. He wants him to go before the guards see him. Sven refuses. He cannot let Sarge go alone as he dragged him into this, so he wants to meet the Executioner together with him. Sarge tells him that the Executioner is not the one he is afraid of but the people in the Abdicators' Tower who deal with fire worshippers. They might hurt Sven. Sven does not care and he still refuses. Sarge has no choice but to fight his brother to send him away to safety. Both of the brothers fight barehanded to avoid doing any serious harm to each other. The two fight and Sarge wins at last. Sarge is surprised that Sven is no longer a boy with bright eyes but a real warrior now. Sven thanks Sarge for going easy on him ever since he was a child. Sven tells Sarge that life was not easy for him without him. Their mother thought that Sarge would become the hope of them and the whole North. Sarge, however, advises Sven to remain as the hope of the North instead because he is a good guy, while Sarge just wants to be rich and famous. Gizmo is surprised that Sarge is doing something exactly as he thought. Greta silences him. Sven is happy that Sarge has a dream as good as any other. But he has to follow it. He advises Sarge to go and not fail in achieving his dream. Sven finally agrees to leave. Sarge thanks Sven for visiting him but next time, he would like to be the one to pay him a visit and wishes the Winter Star blesses him. Sven finally leaves. Gizmo feels good to be finally back home. Gizmo asks Sarge his next plan. His next plan is to inform Queen about Reinhard because if he has the secret of the Wheel of History, he might do something wrong. Greta is scared Sarge might get executed if he goes to the Queen now. Sarge will still however be able to warn her about the danger and they will deal with what happens after that. He asks his companions to distract the guards for him under disguise, while he goes to the Queen. Gizmo and Greta both take care of the guards. Gizmo then suggest that they leave while they still can. Greta hopes that the Queen does not get Sarge hanged. She knows very well how the Queen feels about him. The two siblings leave the Fortress. In the meanwhile, Sarge has come to meet the Queen in the Throne Room. The Queen is surprised that Sarge has returned bravely to them. Sarge is about to inform her about Reinhard just before Helga appears and spots him and orders three of her investigators to keep him from approaching the Queen and capture him. Sarge now has fiery power which he can use in battle. Sarge fights off all three of her investigators. After dealing with the investigators, Sarge gets the opportunity to inform both Helga and the Queen about Reinhard - he has stolen ancient magical secrets from the Northerners and he thinks the interrogators should find out what Reinhard needs them for. He is willing to attend to this matter personally. Queen Iolanda wants him to provide an evidence that allows him to tarnish the name of the Grand Inquisitor of the Abdicators. Sarge does not have any evidence but he has many witnesses. Helga requests Queen to get Sarge arrested as he is a heretic and a traitor. She and her people saw that Sarge use fire magic so he must be executed. She, using the authority given to her by King of the Legion, commands Sarge to surrender or meet his death. Sarge wants to do everything he can to bring the truth to the Queen. He chooses to fight Helga in battle. He uses all his skills to take her down, including his fiery ability. Even her Power of Light proves to be nothing against him. Sarge defeats Helga at last.
